Jackie Howell is a Tax Partner at Atherton & Associates, where she works closely with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals to provide strategic tax planning, advisory, and compliance services. With 15 years of public accounting experience, Jackie is known for delivering practical guidance, anticipating challenges before they arise, and helping clients make informed decisions that support long-term business and financial goals.
Her experience spans a broad range of industries, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, real estate, professional services, and not-for-profit organizations. Jackie regularly advises clients on complex tax planning and compliance matters, business structuring, pass-through entity taxation, multi-entity operations, transaction planning, and IRS and state tax matters. She partners with clients throughout every stage of growth, providing responsive support and solutions tailored to evolving business needs.
As a leader within the firm, Jackie serves as the tax lead and plays an active role in client relationship management, staff mentoring, workflow oversight, and strategic practice development. She is deeply involved in supporting the firm’s Tax Team while also contributing to marketing and business development initiatives, executive leadership support, client experience efforts, and firmwide operational planning.

Outside of work, Jackie enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and their three boys — Luke, Christopher, and Jackson. Family is a central part of her life, and she values making lasting memories together through sporting events, outdoor activities, and time spent in Maui with family and friends. In her free time, she also enjoys golfing and playing pickleball.
